Head coach of Bechem United, Stephen Desmond-Issah Botchway has talked about their opening game of their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League against defending champions, GoldStars on Saturday September 13.
The two teams meet at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani on September 13 at 15:00 – a game the visitors aim to claim all three points, according to coach Botchway.
GoldStars begin the defence of their maiden league title following a remarkable 2024/25 campaign, while Bechem United start under new management after finishing 10th last term.
Botchway insisted his squad has prepared thoroughly for the task ahead.
“We have done a lot and I believe in my boys, I know what they can do, they are going to perform,” the coach told the club’s media team.
“I’ve played this game and I am now a coach, I’ve gone through so many things and this [game against Gold Stars] is not new to me so I see it as a normal game and we are going to perform.”
Bechem United have strengthened their squad with several signings including former Ghana and Manchester City youth forward Mohammed Aminu. The Hunters will be hoping to upset the champions on their own turf and set the tone for a more consistent campaign under Botchway.
