Assistant coach of Dreams FC, Winfred Dormon has said that, the club will avoid the mistakes that saw them struggle in the first half of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Dreams under the guidance of the current Kotoko coach, Karim Zito won the 2023/24 FA Cup, qualifying and reaching the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Their domestic campaign last season was faced with a tough challenge as they stared relegation in the face during the first half of the season, but they recovered to finish 6th with 52 points from 34 games.

Dormon, who is a long serving assistant coach of Dreams FC, attributed their struggles to player sale and the participation in continental competition.

“We have to make sure that when we sell, we have to bring quality, when we sell, we replace those outgoing players with quality players,” Winfred Dormon told Radio Gold.

“The Premier League is a highly competitive league, so we have to keep the business going by making sure that we give platforms for these young talents, but we must also make sure that we build a combination of experience and youthful exuberance; otherwise, this plague will befall us again.”

The ‘Still Believe Boys’ reached the semifinals of the 2023-2024 CAF Confederation Cup, where they were eliminated by Egyptian giants Zamalek.

Winfred Dormon indicated that, their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup affected their performance in the local league.

“It depends on how you look at it but from the club’s perspective, there were a lot of positives because we were also able to do a good transaction, however in another perspective, we lost quality players.

“And that’s why in the first round of the season, we were inconsistent, we were off colour and so it depends on how you look at it.

“But having said that, players will come, and players will go but we have to make sure that we strengthen the starting team to make sure that if player A goes, we get equal replacements.” He added.

Dreams FC will look to rebuild under a yet to be named substantive coach and come back stronger next season.
