Singida Black Stars striker Jonathan Sowah has urged compatriot, William Denkyi to remain focused after joining Tabora FC last month.
The former Hearts of Oak left back joined the club on a three-year deal as a free agent after leaving Ghana Premier League outfit Bibiani Gold Stars at the end of last season.
He was part of the Gold Stars team and helped them lift their maiden Ghana Premier League title, a feat that qualified them for the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
Dankyi, who previously played for the now defunct Liberty Professionals, will be part of the team that finished in 5th in the Tanzania Premier League last season behind Jonathan Sowah’s Singida Black Stars.
Sowah said: “First of all I will just give him congratulations for joining that side and he is welcome because he is coming to join us,” Sowah told Pan-Africa Football.
“He is coming home so what I can just tell him is to just focus and you know these Tanzanian girls they will disturb you so he should not put his mind on that side and just focus on what he came to achieve.
Denkyi won the Ghana Premier League, two FA Cups, one Super Cup and one President Cup before moving to lift his second domestic top flight title with Gold Stars in the 2024/25 season.
Sowah believes that experience will help Denkyi settle to life in the Tanzania top flight side.
“Looking at that, it will help him in a lot of ways because looking at what he has achieved and bringing it to that side, it’s perfect and he can just join everything that the club will just give it to him and he will just match it,” Sowah told Pan Africa Football.
“He should try and put the team on another stage so that it can be on his records.”
Denkyi has also featured for Kumasi King Faisal and Ghana’s U-17, U-20 and U-23 national teams. His trophy wardrobe includes a Ghana Premier League title, two FA Cups, a Super Cup and one President Cup all with millennium champions Hearts of Oak between 2020 and 2022 and the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title with Gold Stars.
