Gold Stars towering defender, Vincent Atinga says he cannot describe the feeling after guiding his side to a historic first ever Ghana Premier League title.

The Bibiani-based club secured the maiden title after whitewashing Accra Lions by 4-0 at the Duns Park in the final day fixture on Sunday June 8 – clocking 63 points after the season.

Vincent Atinga Sporty FM: "I don't have words to describe my feelings. I am too excited because I took Medeama to win the league and I also did it with Gold Stars," he added.

"It was very very difficult. You know, there are ups and downs. There were games we were soppose to win and we ended up losing so it is difficult," he said.

The former Hearts of Oak centre-back has now won two Premier League titles in three years with two different clubs.

The veteran centre-back led Medeama to their first-ever title three seasons ago before joining Gold Stars at the start of the just-ended campaign, playing a crucial part under the aegis of coach Frimpong Manso.

Another key figure of the squad, William Denkyi also shared his excitement after their illustrious season. Denkyi has won the league and two FA Cups with Hearts of Oak before leaving to join King Faisal and later Gold Stars as a free agent.

"It is a great feeling to win more awards. You can't relax after winning just one," he said after the match. "I am just a happy man right now," he added.

"It was difficult. With Hearts we won easily but with Bibiani we had to wait until the 24th match and it was the last game. We have done it and that is important," he shared.

Gold Stars will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season.
