Ghana Premier League: GoldStars pip Berekum Chelsea in outstanding fixture

Reigning Ghana Premier League champions GoldStars produced a spirited performance to beat former champions Berekum Chelsea 1-0 on Thursday.

The outstanding fixture was cleared at the Duns Park with Samuel Attah Kumi’s 42nd minute goal giving the Miners all three points to go on 12 points from six matches into the campaign.

Gold Stars came into the game with a morale boosting 3-1 win over Heart of Lions, a week six result that halted Lions unbeaten streak prior to their clash.

The Ghana side had returned from a poor continental campaign where they lost to JS Kabylie of Algeria over two legs – the first leg ended 2-0 for JSK with the return leg producing a 5-0 score line completing a 7-0 aggregate for the North Africans.

Gold Stars now share twelve points with two giants Hearts of Oak and Aduana, one behind leaders Medeama SC with six matches cleared.
