Ghana Premier League: Heart of Lions begin season with win over Dreams

Heart of Lions collected all three home points against Dreams FC in their opening 2025/26 Ghana Premier League match on Sunday.

The first half at the Kpando Stadium was brought alive with both clubs weighing each other with occasional incursions along the wings.

Heart of Lions fought through the area of Dreams FC with long passes which paid off minutes before the half hour mark.

Forward, Paul Atta Agyei was brought down by Dreams fc attacker, Isaac Yaro in the 24th minute. Then, defender, Ebenezer Abban beat Gideos Aseako who was in post for Dreams FC.

The solitary strike from the spot by Ebenezer Abban separated Heart of Lions and Dreams fc heading into recess.

The fans witnessed a firebrand second half with Dreams fc stepping up by controlling the middle of the park while Heart of Lions fought to contain the attacks.

The visitors came close to leveling in the 70th minute but a poor decision by Emmanuel Osai sent his effort into the hands of Heart of Lions keeper Lawrence Osei.

Dreams FC, who were semifinalists in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup, failed to find the equalizer with Heart of Lions clocking their first three points of the season and they will next face Eleven Wonders while Dreams fc will be at home to Hearts of Oak.

Heart of Lions, who finished second with 60 points last season, will look to replicate that feat in this campaign.
