Head coach of Heart of Lions, Bashir Hayford has opened up on lessons that will help their quest to win the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
The Kpando based club produced an impressive outing last season, finishing second on the table with 60 points, three behind champions GoldStars from 34 matches.
Reflecting on his team’s performance in the last campaign, Bashir Hayford stressed that, Heart of Lions gave away too many points in their away matches, a factor which needs to be corrected this term.
“So many things have opened my eyes. When you are coaching big clubs, the aura is different from coaching a smaller club. So sometimes it’s difficult to win matches away as a small club. But for big clubs, you don’t fear whether you are playing home or away,” Bashir Hayford told Heart of Lions media.
“I think that has taught me a lesson that I have to be wary of our away matches because if we had made some inputs in the away matches, I think we would have won the league last season.
“And another lesson is that we drew about three matches at home. That one also affected us. So I have to watch our home and away matches if we want to win the league,”
Heart of Lions started the season on an impressive note where the knicked a 1-0 win past Dreams fc at the Kpando Stadium in match day one. The team will travel to Techiman to face Eleven Wonders in Week 2.
