Ghana Premier League: “Heart of Lions not under pressure to drop points” – Adjei

Heart of Lions still stand a chance of lifting the Ghana Premier League trophy if they maintain a consistent winning streak and hope that clubs above them on the log, Nations FC and Gold Stars drop points on the road.

The Kpando-based club raked three away points from Legon Cities in week 28 to go on 50 points – keeping their title ambitions intact. Assistant coach at Heart of Lions, Daniel Nii Adjei has indicated that the win at Legon Cities has helped them maintain their title chase.

“I will say it looks good because we are catching up with those who are on top and that was the main aim now because it is left with five matches and then within the five matches anything can happen.

“So we are very glad with what we have achieved now and then catching up with those on top is something that we really like and then we are going to push until the end,” Nii Adjei told Radio Gold.

Heart of Lions share 50 points with Asante Kotoko in 3rd after 28 league matches and both clubs need not drop points if they have to maintain the dream of winning the league title.

The pressure that comes with recording consistent wins and keeping the top four spot is immense but Nii Adjei has ruled out any form of pressure.

“Not really [we are not under pressure], we are taking it match after match because every match is important. Because if you lose someone is catching up with you and if you win, you are also catching up with someone

“So there is no pressure but we are keeping on focusing on every match, we are keeping our composure and then try to encourage the boys to work hard.”

Heart of Lions and Kotoko’s 50 points keep them just a point behind second placed Nations FC and three away from leaders, Gold Stars heading to week 30 where they will host Samartex on May 4.
