Hearts of Oak midfielder, Kwesi Asmah says they will right the wrongs of previous games as they prepare to tackle sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko in a week 30 Ghana Premier League derby on Sunday, May 4 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak have blown hot and cold this season, recording 12 wins, 9 draws and 8 losses and are seated 6th on the table on 45 points from 29 matches. Kotoko sit 4th on the log, sharing 50 points with Heart of Lions with new coach, Karim Zito looking to add the Phobians to his casualty list after beating Aduana 1-0 in Kumasi.

Asmah, 22, signed for the record Ghana FA Cup holders for two-and-half years from Division One club, Na God FC and he remains confident that they will earn the needed three points on Sunday.

“We are very much prepared and we are looking forward to the game. When you come to the training ground, you could see that we are very ready. We haven’t been happy with the recent results but we will take it game by game and we have to leave that one behind us and as we are approaching the Kotoko game, we are very much enthused, we are very much excited and well prepared,” Asmah told Hearts TV.

“We want to exhibit what we have in us to our supporters so we want to rally their support and also hope that they will also motivate us to win the game coming Sunday.” He added.

“We made certain mistakes in the previous games and the coach speaks to us about such things that as a footballer, you need to concentrate one hundred percent until the final whistle.

“So from our experiences, we are already learning and we want to take advantage of what the coaches have been telling us. For the concentration, it will be there and we are very much confident that we are going to get something better from the match coming on Sunday.”

Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara’s head has been on the chopping board over the club’s recent roller coaster performance but their rivals, Kotoko parted ways with head coach Prosper Narteh-Ogum after two consecutive losses against Accra Lions and Nations FC last month.

Ogum was replaced by experienced Abdul Karim Zito who once featured for the club.
