The Ghana Premier League enters another week with interesting fixtures for match day 11 across various venues.
Week 10 brought mixed results for the nation’s two top side, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. Former premier league champions, Hearts of Oak saw their fortunes brighten with a slim 1-0 home victory against newly promoted side Vision FC last weekend.
The win was Hearts of Oak’s second in a row following a 2-0 hammering of Medeama SC at the Tarkwa TnA Park in week nine. The record Ghana FA Cup holders who sit 5th on 15 points, walk into the 11th week fixture with much confidence from the two straight wins.
They travel to play a struggling Karela United on Sunday, November 17 at the Naa Sheriga Complex in Nalerigu. Hearts of Oak’s rivals, Asante Kotoko however had a bad day at the office - succumbing to Bechem United by 1-0 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in week 10, much to the chagrin of the club’s following.
The defeat saw the Porcupine Warriors go four matches, recording three losses and one draw - picking just a point from a possible 12. That notwithstanding, the record Ghana Premier League holders sit 6th on the league table with 15 points same as Hearts of Oak.
Head coach of Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum knows that a defeat at home to Nations fc in week 11 would spell doom for his position as many fans are not happy with the current output of the club.
Elsewhere, at the Tarkwa TnA Park, league leaders, Gold Stars have an arduous task against Medeama SC. Gold Stars will want to consolidate their 20 points on top of the table with Medeama needing three points to move from seventh on 15 points.
In other week eleven fixtures. Saturday Accra Lions vs Heart of Lions, Nsoatreman vs Aduana Stars, Sunday Vision FC vs Dreams FC, Berekum Chelsea vs Bechem United, Legon Cities vs Holy Stars, and Samartex vs Young Apostles.
