Hearts of Oak fans were left disappointed when the club fired blanks in their opening game of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
The giants were to a goalless draw by debutants, Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday September 12.
After a blistering pre-season exercise where they won two trophies, the Homowo Charity Cup and the Democracy Cup, the club’s following expected a flurry of goals against the entrants but the idea did not materialize.
Head coach of the Phobians, Mas Ud Didi Dramani reflected on the nerve wracking encounter.
“I think that we gave everything that is needed in football, we needed the last urge which is very important, the energy, the strength and the performance was absolutely good.
“We still found the extra spaces, we still needed some patience to play one more pass to break the opponent down. You need a lot of patience to break a team that is solely defending with ten men in their box.
“You don’t find the spaces, it’s so tight and so sometimes you need to force the passes so that you go for the second balls.
Hearts of Oak will next travel to face 2022/23 CAF Confederation semifinals, Dreams fc in match day 2.
