Ghana Premier League club Hohoe United have officially announced their withdrawal from the domestic top flight.

The club, who gained promotion from Division One Zone III for the ongoing 2025-26 campaign, have failed to sparkle, occupying 17th spot with 30 points from 27 games, two points away from safety.

Part of the club’s short statement on their social media handles read: “This decision will be communicated officially to the Ghana Football Association.”

A source close to the club tells Pan-Africa Football that the hierarchy has expressed dissatisfaction with the poor officiating meted out to the club in the ongoing season.

In a brief club statement, the management described the decision as a difficult one, signaling the end of their participation in the 2025/26 season.

Hohoe United are billed to play bottom placed Eleven Wonders on Friday, April 3 in week 28 but reports indicate that, they are highly unlikely to honour the fixture.

The club also confirmed that the decision will be formally communicated to the Ghana Football Association in due course.

While reasons for the withdrawal were not immediately disclosed, the development is expected to have significant implications for the league structure and fixtures as the season progresses.

Hohoe United emerged from the purchase of Dansoman based Liberty Professionals by politician, John Peter Amewu after their demotion from the Ghana Premier League in 2021, ending a 21-year stay in the top flight.

Should their withdrawal be made official, it will be a big blow to the indigenes of Hohoe who have been starved of top flight football for decades.
