Head coach of Hohoe United, Tijani Abdul Bashiru is impressed with the performance of his charges in the opening game of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League on Friday, September 12.
The premier league debutants clocked one point after holding the 2000 CAF Champions League winners to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Bashiru spoke to the media after the game: “Tactically we played very well because before coming to play this game, we knew exactly the team that we were coming to meet” Tijani Bashiru told the media.
“Per what Hearts of Oak did during the pre-season, the GHALCA Top 4 and their last game against Great Olympics, we watched them and so we equipped our team mentally because we know a team that we are coming to face.
“Playing a team like Hearts of Oak, it’s not about physical ability but mental strength and my boys did so well and they played according to the plan as well.” He added.
Hohoe United qualified for the Ghana Premier League last season after shrugging off a tough contest from Port City and former topflight campaigners, Great Olympics and Okwawu United. Their next fixture is at home against Young Apostles, a game they will want to win in front of their home fans.
