Ghana Premier League: Ibrahim Tanko takes solace in home draw against Holy Stars

Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko has reacted to their 1-1 draw at home to Holy Stars in match week 15 of the Ghana Premier League on Monday at the Tarkwa TnA Park.

The Mauve and Yellow went down in the 30th minute when Koffie Hagan tapped in Basake Holy Stars’ opener from close range.

Medeama however fought back late into the game when substitute, Kingsley Braye poked home the equalizer in the added time to keep their title aspirations alive.

Ibrahim Tanko said: “It’s very painful as I said before the game that, it is not going to be easy for us because of their last game they came here with confidence but I can say we squandered a lot chances that ones that we could score so it’s very painful that we have to look at the next game,” Ibrahim Tanko said.

“We had a lot chances like I said, in the first half we had two or three chances that at least we had to score [and] I always say that in the premier league if you don’t score your chances, as the game progresses your opponent gets more confidence but in the end we have to be happy for the points.”

Medeama right-back, Kamaradini Mamudu was adjudged Man-of-the-Match and he shared his thoughts on the game.

“First of all I have to give thanks to my teammates before it wasn’t an easy game for us because the opponent came and sat back so we couldn’t penetrate through the midfield and even the wings [and] that’s why we couldn’t create more chances,” Kamaradini Mamudu said.

Medeama could have climbed top of the table but the draw keeps them in second on 27 points, one behind leaders Aduana FC but Medeama have an outstanding game against reigning champions GoldStars.
