Head coach of Medeama SC Ibrahim Tanko has expressed caution ahead of their week 12 Ghana Premier League top liner against record title holders, Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The two former champions will clash at the Baba Yara Stadium as Medeama look to topple leaders Aduana FC and Asante Kotoko aiming to close in on the top spot.
Medeama have lost just a game in the current campaign with Kotoko suffering their first ever defeat – a 2-1 loss at Holy Stars on Wednesday in a week three outstanding fixture.
Ibrahim Tanko who has spearheaded the Mauve and Yellow to six wins, four draws and a single defeat wants to post another fine finish against Kotoko.
“We are eight games unbeaten and against Kotoko I know it’s going to be a different game altogether and they also had their first loss against Holy Stars and definitely they are coming to play at home and we are playing away and of course we want to keep our unbeaten record and possibly get the three points there,” Ibrahim Tanko told MEDi TV.
“There is no assurance in football but what I can tell them [fans] is that we are doing everything possible to get the three points in Kumasi [and] definitely we will get our chances.
“I hope the strikers will be more clinical this time and to score the goals but I think it’s going to be a very good game both teams have a very good team and it’s going to be a very tactical game because we watched them even against Basake Holy Stars and so let’s see what happens on Sunday.”
Medeama sit third on the league table with 22 points from 11 matches with Asante Kotoko in fourth, two points behind Medeama.
