Ghana Premier League: Kotoko go five games without a win against Nations

Nations FC and Asante Kotoko sold out a goalless draw in week five of Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

In a game marred by a soggy pitch due to heavy rains, both sides struggled to put passes together talk-less of creating clear scoring chances.

However, it was Nations FC who thought they had gone ahead in the 11th minute but centre referee, Adongo Akurugu whistled for an infringement in favor of Kotoko.

After patchy exchanges in the ensuing minutes, Kotoko came close to finding the opener but Peter Amidu Acquah’s effort came off the leg of Nations keeper, Hadina Bariu in the 25th minute.

Both sides resorted to flinging the ball above the soaked pitch just to try and create chances but efforts were futile.

Samba O’Neil missed a whisker to put Kotoko ahead in the dying embers of the first half before Razak Simpson’s chance from a teed free kick went wide.

Kotoko continued to scrape through for the opener in the second half with Nations equally knocking hard at the door of keeper Mohamed Camara.

The game produced no goals with Kotoko failing to break the jinx of five matches without a win against Nations FC.

The two time African champions now move into third on the table with 8 points same as rivals, Hearts of Oak but with an outstanding match against Holy Stars to clear.

The goalless draw keeps Nations FC in 12th on five points from five games.
