Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has indicated that, the club’s strikers will soon come good with their goal scoring abilities in the second round of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors have been in some fine shape with forward, Kwame Opoku in some blistering form, scoring 3 goals in four matches in the first round.
The record Ghana Premier League holders have equally roped in the services of experienced strikers, Isaac Mintah and Sampson Eduku with seven goal attacker, Albert Amoah set to recover from injury in the next few weeks.
The two time African champions will face strugglers, Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, January 26 in a week 18 fixture and coach Prosper Narteh Ogum shared some words.
“For the goal scoring, I think we have to be repetitive in our approach. If you look at our game against Medeama, I’m talking about the league game and not the FA Cup. It’s been so obvious that we create the chances with ease, chance creation now is not a difficult thing for us,” Ogum said.
“What is left now is putting the ball at the back of the net and that comes with composure and there are certain words within the word composure and that is applying the right technique, picking your spot and then making sure that you have power behind the ball.
“So these are the things that I think we need to try as much as possible to practice a lot at training and in fact we have been practicing them but then, I’m sure very soon we will get into the motoric stage where when these chances are created, it will be very easy for us to score.
“For performance you and I will attest from Aduana Stars in Dormaa up to this stage, it is going up and up so in terms of performance on the field, I am sure the players and the technical staff, we are doing our best,” Ogum added.
Asante Kotoko regained their mojo in the latter part of the first round, going six league games without a defeat with victories against top sides like their rivals, Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars, Gold Stars and CAF Confederation Cup semi finalists, Dreams fc.
They currently sit 3rd on the league table with 31 points from 17 matches, one behind second place Nations FC and two adrift of leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars.
