Head coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper Narteh Ogum has reacted to their heavy loss against strugglers, Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.
The Porcupine Warriors struggled to cope with Accra Lions’ possessive football at the Accra Sports Stadium in a week 22 outstanding fixture. Narteh-Ogum said that, he knew his charges were in for a good game against the highly possessive Accra Lions.
“We knew they could play, they could pass, they could go on a counter. We had looked at all these things, but then sometimes the players get onto the field and it is a different thing altogether.
“I think we had a good warm-up. It was just lack of focus. We didn’t cover the spaces, and that led to those two goals,” Ogum added.
The Porcupine Warriors came into the game hoping to bounce back after two straight draws, but a determined Accra Lions side proved too much to handle.
The defeat sees Kotoko drop to second place on the table with 47 points, three less than leaders Gold Stars after 27 matches. They face Nations FC away in their next league fixture.
