Medeama SC could be a huge stumbling block for Gold Stars’ Ghana Premier League title hopes when both square off in Week 28 at the Duns Park on Sunday, April 20.
The Mauve and Yellow sit 6th on 41 points, nine below leaders Gold Stars with the Bibiani based club needing all home points to consolidate their lead. Medeama lost 1-0 at Heart of Lions on Wednesday but head coach, Ibrahim Tanko says his side is determined to bounce back with a strong performance against Bibiani Gold Stars.
Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Tanko acknowledged the team’s recent setback but stressed their resolve to turn things around in Bibiani.
“I think it's a very painful defeat [against Heart of Lions in midweek]. We have today and tomorrow to prepare against Bibiani GoldStars,” Tanko said.
“So definitely we are going to prepare very well and then try to achieve something in Bibiani.”
Bibiani GoldStars come into the game with a strong home record, having gone unbeaten in their last 23 Premier League matches at Dun’s Park.
Medeama, in contrast, have struggled away from home, losing their last six away games and managing just one win in 12 with only seven games remaining in the season.
