Medeama SC posted a fighting spirit but their energy was watered down by a resilient Asante Kotoko in Week 33 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Medeama shot ahead with a perfect goal by Kingsley Braye however Albert Amoah rose to score two goals to peg the game at 2-1.

The Mauve and Yellow leveled one more time through the effort of Manuel Mantey but Amoah saved the day for Kotoko much to the chagrin of Medeama coach, Ibrahim Tanko.

“I think we started the game very well and going 1-0 ahead, sometimes I don’t want to talk about the referees.

“The situation that changed the game, the foul we had, he didn’t give it to us. He gave them this penalty so definitely that’s the game changer for today and I think in the second half we came in stronger and created a lot of chances so we lost 3-2 but I think in terms of performance I’m very happy,” Ibrahim Tanko said in a post match press conference.

“When you look at the away games you played, almost all the games we did very well. And today both teams have nothing to lose and like I said it’s very unfortunate that this situation changed the game and we also conceded the two goals from set pieces and one from penalty and I think we have to be careful, go back back and then next season we try to win the title as well.

“I have played almost half season apart from the first game so definitely I know the players now and I know the quality we have. And surely we are going to have one or two additions so that we will be complete and hopefully next season we are going to come all out to win the title.”

Medeama now sit 7th on the league table with 50 points from 33 matches. The two time FA Cup will host Berekum Chelsea on Sunday June 8 in their final game of the season.
