Head coach of Medeama SC Ibrahim Tanko has said that it is still early to give up on challenging for the Ghana Premier League title.
Speaking in a post-match interview, the former Ghana international stated that he believes his team, on 41 points, is not out of the race despite falling behind leaders, Gold Stars by nine points.
The Mauve and Yellow suffered a 1-0 loss against Heart of Lions but Tanko remains confident that, the team will prepare well to face leaders, Gold Stars in the next fixture.
“The game was a really hard game, and I think when you look at chances created, we had our chances in the first half to score, but we didn’t make use of them. Then we conceded a goal through a set piece. It’s really painful. In all, they won 1-0, so we take it like that,” Tanko said.
“I’m disappointed. Like I said, in the first half, we could have scored one or two, and we couldn’t make use of our chances. So, definitely I’m sad about the result.
“We still have some games to play. Looking at the score lines of today, anything can happen. We are going to prepare for our next away game against Gold Stars and try to get our points.”
After Wednesday’s defeat, Medeama SC are 5th in the Ghana Premier League standings with 41 points same as Hearts of Oak and Samartex.
