Ghana Premier League: Medeama SC coach Ibrahim Tanko raves about Young Apostles win

Head coach of Medeama SC Ibrahim Tanko has reacted to his charges’ performance in the opener of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League fixture against Young Apostles on Sunday.

The Yellow and Mauves began the campaign in Techiman on a blistering note, defeating Young Apostles 2-0 under the guidance of the former Ghana international.

The two-time Ghana FA Cup champions opened the scoring through Emmanuel Owusu in the 17th-minute before they grabbed their second goal of the match through Paul Yeboah to snatch victory.

Tanko impressed with clean sheet

Tanko, who joined the former Ghana Premier League champions last season said: “The performance was 50-50.

“We didn’t perform well in the first half of the match, but I think we did the most important thing by winning the game and also keeping a clean sheet. We will improve as the league unfolds.”

The Ghana Premier League returned last weekend with six clubs recording wins, six drawn games and six losses in the opening day fixture across various venues.

Medeama will play host to Vision FC at the Tarkwa TNA Park in matchday two of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.
