Ghana Premier League leaders Medeama Sporting Club have reinforced their squad ahead of the decisive phase of the season with the signing of striker Abdul Rahman Mohammed on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The Mauve and Yellows announced the acquisition as part of their strategic efforts to bolster both attacking and defensive options as they push for domestic success.
Abdul Rahman Mohammed joins Medeama SC from Tra United SC of Tanzania, bringing pace, work rate, and attacking versatility to the Tarkwa-based club. Known for his energy and intelligent movement off the ball, the forward is expected to provide coach Ibrahim Tanko with additional firepower as the club competes on multiple fronts.
Rahman Mohammed rose to prominence after playing a pivotal role in Nsoatreman FC’s historic FA Cup triumph in 2024, a campaign that highlighted his ability to deliver in high-pressure matches. His performances during that period earned him recognition as one of the most industrious attackers in the domestic game, attracting interest from clubs across the region before Medeama secured his signature.
The striker’s arrival comes at a crucial time for Medeama SC, who are chasing their second Ghana Premier League title and a third FA Cup crown. With fixture congestion and increasing competition at the top of the table, squad depth has become a key factor, and Rahman Mohammed’s signing is seen as a timely boost to the club’s attacking unit.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko is expected to deploy the new signing in a flexible attacking role, where his pressing ability and movement can complement Medeama’s existing forwards. His experience in cup competitions could also prove valuable as the club balances league ambitions with knockout football.
In addition to strengthening their attack, the two-time FA Cup winners have also addressed defensive needs by completing the signing of right-back Victor Oduro during the second transfer window. Oduro joins Medeama SC on a three-year contract as a free agent following his departure from Nations FC.
The acquisition of Oduro is particularly significant following the exit of experienced defender Kamadini Mamudu, who recently completed a move to Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman. Medeama’s technical team moved swiftly to fill the void, identifying Oduro as a reliable and experienced option capable of reinforcing the backline.
Victor Oduro brings a wealth of experience to the Mauve and Yellows, having been part of Dreams FC’s FA Cup-winning squad in 2023. His performances during that successful campaign showcased his defensive discipline, attacking overlaps, and composure in big matches. He later joined Nations FC ahead of the 2023/2024 season, where he continued to develop as a consistent performer.
At Medeama SC, Oduro is expected to provide both defensive stability and attacking support from the right flank. His ability to read the game and contribute in transition aligns with the club’s tactical approach, especially in matches where full-backs are required to support forward play.
The double signing underlines Medeama SC’s intent to maintain their dominance in the Ghana Premier League and remain competitive in cup competitions. By adding quality in key areas, the club is positioning itself strongly for the remainder of the season.
As league leaders, expectations remain high in Tarkwa, and the pressure to deliver silverware is mounting. The arrivals of Abdul Rahman Mohammed and Victor Oduro not only strengthen the squad but also send a clear signal of ambition to rivals.
With a balanced mix of youth, experience, and tactical depth, Medeama SC will be confident that these additions can play a decisive role in their quest for domestic glory and sustained success on the Ghanaian football scene.
