Ghana Premier League: Medeama’s title ambitions come under threat

The chase for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title takes an interesting twist when leaders, Medeama head to All Black in match week 24 on Sunday.

The Mauve and Yellow have seen their lead cut to three points by reigning champions GoldStars and five by Hearts of Oak after 23 matches.

Ahead of Medeama’s week 24 encounter at All Blacks, head coach Ibrahim Tanko admits that there is pressure on his charges but stresses the need for calm.

Medeama have 45 points, three more than GoldStars

“I’ve always said that we are playing a marathon league and the league will go on until the last day and all the teams are prepared now and definitely the pressure is coming behind us now but I think we are ready to take the pressure on going out there against All Blacks,” Ibrahim Tanko told MEDi TV.

“It’s not going to be easy [but] definitely we are going there to pick something. I always say it’s not going to be easy [and] we go game by game. We have 11 games to play so definitely we are going to get our points.

“Each game is very important and we are also good at away games and definitely we are going there with a bright chest, they have a problem, they are in the relegation zone so they will be coming with everything but we are also going there to play our game, create chances and if possible get the points and come back home.”

Medeama have 45 points, three better than GoldStars with Hearts of Oak following third on 40 points after 23 matches cleared.
