The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League returns with mouthwatering week 31 fixtures across various venues with Nations FC looking to retain the top spot.
Nations FC sit top of the table on 54 points one better than Gold Stars and Heart of Lions with Asante Kotoko sitting in 4th on the log on 51 points after 30 matches into the season.
One club that will aim at entering the top four in Medeama SC who have garnered 47 points in 5th. They are away to struggling Karela United on Sunday, May 18 and head coach of the Mauve and Yellow, Ibrahim Tanko shared some words ahead of the trip to the Northern Part of Ghana.
“So far so good I think we had a free week because of the MTN FA Cup and we started two days ago with preparations towards Karela United.
“I mean Karela is another stubborn side and they beat Bibiani Gold Stars and the league leaders at home and they are going to stay at home with their confidence but I mean we are coming there to try to win the game.
“We are going as always and we are going to play our normal game and possession based football and like I said to take the three points over there.
“But we know that Karela also have a good side and beating the league leaders 1-0 at their own backyard is very good for them so we are going there to try to win or try to take a point.” Tanko told Medi TV.
Assistant coach at Heart of Lions Daniel Nii Adjei has talked about why they need to stay consistent in order not drop valuable points.
“I will say that it looks good because we are catching up with those on top of the table and that is the main aim now because anything can and so we are very glad with what we have achieved so far,” Nii Adjei told Radio Gold.
“We are playing match after match and there is no pressure but we are keeping on focusing with every match. We are keeping our composure and trying to encourage the boys to work hard.” Nii Adjei added.
With four matches to conclude the season, clubs within the top four will want to remain consistent while those below apart from the withdrawn Nsoatreman fighting to stay afloat.
