Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has hailed his players for adhering to his tactics following their 3-2 Ghana Premier League win over Medeama.
The Porcupine Warriors wrestled all three points from the Mauve and Yellow at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday June 1 to have a slim chance of winning the title. Zito, who replaced Prosper Narteh Ogum, opened up on the performance of the players and the needed three points.
“What matters here is we were able to win convincingly and then we should be able to win our last game for our supporters to know that this is well here we have been able to reach.
“What makes me happy is that before the game on Friday, these were the training I did, finishing, with the head and the leg.
“And it has manifested and so I’m very happy. As for the league yes, you can’t just take over and say you’ve lost. If we had won at Bibiani Gold Stars or Hearts of Oak it would have been a different story. At the end of the day, what matters most is the result and we have won so I’m happy,” Zito said after the match.
Asante Kotoko remain in third on the league table with 58 points from 33 matches into the season. The record league title holders have now gone five matches without a loss under Karim Zito and will next face Vision FC in their last game at Nii Adjei Kraku II Complex on Sunday June 8.
