Ghana Premier League: Karim Zito opens up on tough Medeama clash

Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium will come alive when Asante Kotoko host Medeama SC in an epic week 12 fixture from the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Kotoko, who won last season’s FA Cup, had their unbeaten streak this campaign halted after losing 2-1 at Basake Holy Stars in a week three outstanding Ghana Premier League game. Medeama have equally lost just one game this season, making the clash one of the headliners of the weekend.

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito took some time to share his thoughts on the game:

“Kotoko is also a big side [and] we started the league together and so we do not want to repeat the pain we went through at Basake Holy Stars and we want to maintain the idea of winning the league and moreover it’s a home game we have promised not to lose home games,” Karim Zito told Kotoko media.

“If we lose at home, it’s bad news so we do not like it and we are going all out forgetting the last defeat at Basake Holy Stars and now it’s Medeama and we are coming in to claim all the three points.”

Zito has indicated that Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko is an experienced trainer but he remains confident of putting the brakes on his high flying charges who share 22 points with Heart of Lions on the league table.

“Ibrahim Tanko is one coach I talk with all the time, we talk together [and] we share ideas but in the end Kotoko must prevail as the seniors.”

Kotoko are fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 20 points, two behind Medeama and Heart of Lions and three away from leaders Aduana after eleven matches.
