Ghana’s Sports Minister Kofi Adams pledges government’s support for Jeremy Doku

Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Honourable Kofi Adams has pledged government’s support for Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku is he intends to embark on any initiative.

The Belgium international paid a courtesy call on the Sports Minister on Thursday as part of his holidays in his motherland.

The 23-year-old has ideas of impacting positively in the West African nation.

“I’m proud of my Ghanaian heritage, I plan to return home more than often to give back,” Jeremy Doku said.

The Sports Minister, Kofi Iddie Adams had words of encouragement for the Belgium international.

“You [Jeremy Doku] may never wear Ghana’s national jersey but every time you step on to the pitch , Ghana is mentioned,” Kofi Adams said.

“Your discipline and humility on and off the field makes you a powerful role model for our youth.

“The Sports Ministry stands ready to support any initiative you pursue in Ghana.”

The meeting concluded with the exchange of gifts and a special invitation for Doku to attend upcoming youth football clinics organised by the Ministry.

The initiative aims to harness the talents of young athletes across the country while fostering stronger ties between Ghana and its diaspora.

Doku’s visit underscores the enduring bond between Ghana and its sons and daughters abroad, and serves as an inspiration to many aspiring footballers that success abroad can – and should – lead to impact at home.
