“Ghana has bright future despite South Africa defeat” – Kassim Mingle

Head coach of Ghana’s domestic-based national team, Kassim Mingle has patted his charges on the back after their 1-0 loss against South Africa in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The Black Galaxies engaged Bafana Bafana at the Dobsonville Stadium in what was South Africa’s final warm-up match before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Sipho Mbule’s stunning strike in the 57th minute sank the Ghana side who huffed and puffed in search of the equalizer but to no avail.

Kassim Mingle said after the game: “It was a very good performance from my boys, we had only three weeks to camp them and they put up a very good performance and I am happy about the performance and I’m happy for them [especially] the way they played.

“Having only three weeks in camp and coming to play against Bafana Bafana so I’m satisfied with what I have seen because it’s a new team we are building,” Kassim Mingle said after the game.

Ghana paraded home based players for the game

“It’s a young team that we are building and we had three weeks to camp them, it was hard luck [and] we should have equalized the goal so I am happy, I am satisfied with the performance.

“[The future] is very bright but there is more room for improvement [and] as time goes on when we get more time camping together, I think they can do better than this.”

Ghana, who failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations paraded their home based side for the game. South Africa on the other hand fielded a second string side with most of the key players rested ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations opener against Angola on Monday December 22.

South Africa are paired in Group B alongside neighbours Zimbabwe, record holders Egypt and Angola for the tournament that is fixed between December 21 and January 18.
