Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has praised Bournemouth for setting the bar high following their superb campaign to the Premier League season.
The Cherries are currently sitting fourth on the Premier League table with 10 points, the same number as third and second placed Tottenham and Arsenal, but they are five points behind leaders Liverpool.
Out of five matches so far this season, Bournemouth have won three, drawn one and lost. According to Semenyo, they will continue to stay humble and fight for every point in the top-flight.
“We’ve been riding high for a little bit,” he told the club’s website after their 0-0 draw against Newcastle United. “I think the bar has been set quite high and it’s probably a fair result, but because of that maybe we’re disappointed.
“I think in the first-half we had opportunities, but it wasn’t to be and a point will have to do. Hopefully we can go to Leeds next week and take three.”
The Black Stars continued: “On the whole it’s been a good start to the season, definitely. We want to be humble and not get too big headed, we take it easy game by game. But we’re pleased with our start and the players are giving everything to keep it going and to continue it.”
So far this season, Semenyo has featured in four Premier League matches scoring three goals, and providing two assists.
He joined Bournemouth in 2023, after completing a transfer worth £10 million on a four-and-a-half-year contract He made his debut for the club in 1-0 Premier League loss at Brighton & Hove Albion, and scored his first goal on April 30, 2023, in a 4-1 home win over Leeds United.
