Head coach of Medeama SC Ibrahim Tanko cannot afford to drop his guards when his leads his charges at home to Hearts of Oak in week 17 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The Mauve and Yellow have had the home advantage over their opponents in the past five seasons, recording three wins as against Hearts of Oak’s two.
Medeama posted impressive statistics in their last games and Ibrahim Tanko does not want to underestimate Hearts of Oak who have equally been inspiring ahead of the clash at the Tarkwa TnA Park.
“Hearts of Oak is a very strong side and we watched them, definitely they will also watch our games and I am sure that the boys are ready to take the fight, we are playing at home, we want to maintain our position at the top so definitely it’s not going to be easy but we are going to do our best to do that,” Ibrahim Tanko told MEDi TV.
“We are playing against eleven players on the field and I don’t think we will single out any player on the field to keep eyes on him, I mean we are also playing as a team and we have to defend as a team and we have to create more chances to score.”
Medeama have played thirteen matches without a defeat and the feat is something that excites Ibrahim Tanko ahead of the final game of the first half of the campaign.
“We have very good feeling, if you go thirteen games without losing definitely your confidence will go high so we want to keep our composure, we want to be ourselves [because] we are playing against a very tough team on Sunday but I think the boys are ready,” Ibrahim Tanko told MEDi TV.
Hearts of Oak posted 1-0 victories against Nations FC and Samartex with a goalless draw Aduana in the last three matches and a win over Medeama will see them go on 31 points. They currently sit in 5th on 28 points from 16 matches.
Medeama lead the table on 31 points, one better than Asante Kotoko as they both march into the final game of the first half of the season.
