Ghana women’s team beat Aston Villa ahead of England friendly

Ghana’s senior female team showed class ahead of their international friendly against England with a big win over Aston Villa Women’s team.

The Black Queens posted an emphatic 3-1 victory in a preparatory match on Friday in a closed door encounter with a goal each by Comfort Yeboah, Evelyn Badu and Princess Marfo.

The game formed part of coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s exercise to sharpen his squad against the European champions on Tuesday at the St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.

Ghana won bronze at last Women AFCON in Morocco

Ghana is preparing for the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Morocco. The team won bronze at the last edition in Morocco and will look to replicate that feat or better the performance.

Coach Kim Lars Bjorkeren has welcomed French-born defender Benedicte Simon, who joined the group later in the week to augment the squad. The Swedish tactician will have the opportunity to assess other players who will play an important role in his squad for the 2026 WAFCON.
