Ghana might be dealt another World Cup blow as forward Mohammed Kudus has been ruled out with an injury until after the international break in March.
The Tottenham Hotspur forward spent a little over 20 minutes during their 1-1 draw with Sunderland before being marched off the pitch with a thigh injury.
Kudus played an important role in the Black Stars qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but the latest injury is a scare for coach Otto Addo despite the 25-year-old is to return two months before the mundial.
Spurs manager, Thomas Frank gave an update on the Mohammed Kudus’ extent of injury after their 3-2 loss at Bournemouth last weekend.
“Mohammed Kudus unfortunately is a bigger injury to the tendon in the quad,” said manager Thomas Frank as quoted by Spurs website.
“That is one where we expect him back after the March international break.”
The former Ajax forward is likely to return to Premier League action in April when Tottenham Hotspur host Aston Villa in week 22.
A product of Nordsjaelland, Kudus signed for £55m from West Ham last summer and has scored twice in 19 matches Premier League games for Tottenham who sit in 14th position on the table with just seven wins from 21 league matches.
Kudus adds up to the number of injured Ghanaian players before the World Cup starts in Canada, USA and Mexico.
Earlier this week, Ligue 1 outfit, AS Monaco announced that defender Mohammed Salisu has suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament taking him out of the rest of the season and automatically out of the World Cup.
Toulouse midfielder, Francis Abu was the first to go into the treatment room following his injury in the Kirin Challenge Cup against Japan last year.
Ghana are paired in Group L alongside CONCACAF representatives Panama and two Europeans England and Croatia for their fifth World Cup.
