Ghana international Alexander Djiku has sealed a transfer to Russian powerhouse Spartak Moscow, marking a new chapter in his career for the 2025/26 season.
Djiku’s move to Russia ends his stay at Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce, a side he joined from French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg in 2023.
The 31-year-old joins the Gladiators in a two-year deal and is expected to play a huge role in the current campaign, considering his wealth of experience in the game.
Djiku joined Fenerbahce two seasons ago as a free agent after his contract with Strasbourg expired. With just a year left on his contract, the tough-tackling Ghanaian defender has switched to join Spartak Moscow in Russia to continue his career.
Djiku has been instrumental in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, scoring the winner in the 1-0 win over Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on match day 8.
Since his debut in 2020, Djiku has made 34 appearances for the Black Stars, scoring three goals. Djiku made 51 appearances, scoring three goals during the period for Fenerbahce. Spartak Moscow currently sits 6th on the league table with 11 points from 7 matches.
