After signing Sierra Leone international Abdulai Juma Bah on loan from Manchester City, Nice coach Franck Haise was in search of another center back to boost his injury-hit defense. Oppong is an emerging defender and showed his class while playing in Sweden.
Nice Sporting Director Florian Maurice said they have kept tabs on Oppong for a long period of time:
“Kojo is a player that we’d been supervising until very recently. Even though he is young, he has established himself in the Swedish top flight at Norrköping, after a very interesting loan spell at Sundsvall. What drew us to him was not only his speed, his mobility, and his aggression in duels but also his ability to play in different defensive systems.”

Oppong came through the Attram De Visser Soccer Academy in Ghana before heading to Sweden in 2023. His growth was very fast, as he now joins a French top-tier club only two-and-a-half years after first moving to Sweden. The 21-year-old center back told club media that he is ready for the new test. “I am going to reach a new level at Nice, a club that fights for the top spots in Ligue 1 and that will be playing in Europe for a second consecutive season, and I feel ready for this new challenge.”
Oppong made 25 appearances for Norrköping in 2025
