Young Africans (Yanga SC) goalkeeper Djugui Diarra has called on the club fans to stay calm as the players work out on ways to rise up again.

The Timu ya Mwanachi kicked off their CAF Champions League campaign with a 2-0 defeat against Al-Hilal Omdurman of Sudan at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Tuesday.

In the Group A fixture, Yanga had started strongly but failed to utilise their chances. However, in the second half, the visiting side looked the better side and took the lead in the 63rd minute through Adama Coulibaly.

Substitute Yasir Mozamil, who had come on in the 83rd minute, then drilled home the winner in the stoppages to stun the Timu ya Mwananchi at their own turf. The defeat came after Yanga had lost bak-to-back matches against Azam FC and Tabora United in the Mainland Premier League.

“I wanted to share this important message with you following our recent string of losing games. Team spirit, passion and fan support are essential to the success of our club. Every member of our team, whether player, coach or staff, works hard to overcome these challenges and rise again,” said the Mali goalkeeper.

“We understand that these results may be disappointing, but it is crucial to maintain faith in our players and management. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. It is through adversity that we truly discover the strength of a community and the importance of sticking together.”

He continued: “We encourage you to continue to raise your voice in the stands, support our team with passion and pride, and be patient. The path to success is not always linear, but together we can overcome this difficult time.

“Let us remember that we are more than a team: we are a family. Your continued support is a valuable asset. Let’s stay united and determined, because each match is a new chance to shine.

“Thank you for your understanding and commitment. Together, we will overcome these obstacles.”
