Head coach of Gold Stars, Desmond Frimpong Manso is elated after winning the 2025 GHALCA Top Four competition – lifting the trophy via the head-to-head rule.
Gold Stars secured seven points, the same as Hearts of Oak. The clash between Gold Stars and Hearts of Oak in the second game ended 2-2 with the former going ahead to claim a 5-4 penalty shootouts.
Gold Stars secured a 3-2 penalty shootouts win over Heart of Lions in their game after full time ended 1-1 and that gave the league champions the edge over Hearts of Oak.
Frimpong Manso said: “Obviously I should feel happy [and] now you can see the whole team and everybody is happy,” Frimpong Manso said.
“We were expecting a very good opposition from Kotoko but unfortunately you could see Hearts of Oak, they’ve been playing well in this tournament to be frank with you and for me all I have wanted was for us to win the cup.
“So whatever it would take for us to win the cup I never mind so I was calm up there while they were playing.” He added.
Gold Stars will focus on the Champion-of-Champions against Asante Kotoko at the Duns Park before turning attention to the domestic and the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
