Golden glove winner Kusiima seals URA FC comeback after historic Kitara spell

URA FC have officially confirmed the return of seasoned goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima, who rejoins the Tax Collectors on a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Kitara FC.

The shot-stopper returns to URA nearly a decade after his initial spell in 2016, when he was a promising talent but faced stiff competition for game time. That challenge saw him seek opportunities elsewhere, embarking on a journey that shaped him into one of Uganda’s most reliable custodians.

Over the years, Kusiima steadily rose through the ranks with notable stints at Tooro United, Gaddafi FC, and Express FC—where he played a key role in the Red Eagles’ famous 2020/21 Uganda Premier League triumph.

His most recent chapter at Kitara FC proved to be the most outstanding. After joining the Royals in 2023, he delivered a historic campaign: helping the team to a top-five league finish, winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup for the first time, and earning a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kusiima’s 2024/25 season stats were particularly impressive—27 league appearances, 16 clean sheets, and 2,430 minutes played, performances that deservedly earned him the Golden Glove accolade.

Cumulatively, in the last three seasons, the reliable goalkeeper has registered 62 league appearances with 32 clean sheets, cementing his place among the best in the land.

His consistency has not gone unnoticed at the national level either—Kusiima is currently part of the Uganda Cranes local-based squad preparing for the upcoming CHAN 2024 tournament, where he stands as URA’s sole representative.

He becomes URA FC’s second signing of the current transfer window, joining winger Living Kabon, who also made a return from Kitara FC.

With his vast experience and renewed form, Kusiima is expected to inject calm, leadership, and class into the URA goalkeeping department ahead of the new campaign.
