Asante Kotoko defender Samba O’Neil has admitted that beating GoldStars in the upcoming Champion of Champions duel will be a difficult task.
The Porcupine Warriors posted a horrible performance in the just ended GHALCA Top Four where they failed to collect a single point in three matches.
Kotoko, who won the Ghana FA Cup last season, will face the reigning league champions at the Duns Park in Bibiani on August 31 – a game they will look to win to appease their fans.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Samba O’Neil stated that Asante Kotoko will be going in for revenge after recently losing 2-1 to the opponent in the GHALCA Top 4 tournament.
“It’s going to be very difficult, as you know, but we are getting ready for the challenge. We are coming all out for it, so we are going to take it. They scored us in the top 4, so we are coming back for revenge,” O’Neil said in an interview with the GFA media team.
Gold Stars will play against Algeria’s JS Kabylie in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions league with Asante Kotoko battling Kwara United of Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Champion of Champions is another game that will help shape their squads for the continental campaign which kicks off in September.
