Gor Mahia purge continues as CEO Raymond Oruo is sacked

After their decision to fire the entire technical bench led by Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions Gor Mahia’s purge has continued with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Raymond Oruo, who was sacked on Wednesday.

Oruo’s dismissal follows that of the entire technical bench and security personnel, in what the record FKF Premier League champions described as a “mutual separation”.

In a statement confirming Oruo’s departure, signed by Vice-Chairperson Sally Bolo and seen by Pan-Africa Football, it said in part: “Gor Mahia FC wishes to announce that it has mutually agreed to part ways with Chief Executive Officer, Ray Oruo.

“We thank Oruo for his service and contributions to the club during his tenure and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”

Gor Mahia’s decision to make the changes comes a few days after the club finished the 2024/25 season without silverware.

With a game to spare, they were pipped to the Premier League title by Kenya Police FC.

They were then stunned by newly-promoted Nairobi United in the FKF Cup final, losing 2-1 at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
