Olympique de Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi stated that he expects new signing Amine Gouiri to perform well after arriving in Southern France. The Algerian international left Stade Rennes to join Marseille during the January transfer window.

The Olympique Lyonnais academy graduate made a huge impression on his OM debut coming on as a second half substitute against his former club. Marseille beat Lyon at the Velodrome 3-2 where the 24-year-old managed to get an assist.

Speaking after the game, Italian tactician De Zerbi said Gouiri will be a great asset for the club: "I really like this player. He has great qualities and we knew it. He is a unique 9 who offers something different, his profile will be very important for OM in the future."

Marseille are now second in Ligue 1, ten points shy of log leaders PSG.
