Uganda Cranes forward Farouk Miya wasted no time in getting off the mark at his new club Ilioupoli FC in Greece’s second division.
Miya found the back of the net in a pre-season friendly last evening as Ilioupoli fell 2-1 to Athens Kallithea FC at the Grigoris Lamprakis Stadium.
The former Vipers SC forward struck his side’s consolation goal, marking his first for the club since completing a move earlier this month.
He joined Ilioupoli FC in August 2025 after leaving Turkish side Caykur Rizespor, where he had spent the past two seasons. His arrival is seen as a major boost for Ilioupoli, who are preparing for the upcoming 2025/26 Greek Super League 2 campaign.
Miya’s goal will give both him and his new teammates confidence heading into the season, as Ilioupoli aims to mount a strong challenge in Greece’s highly competitive second tier.
The Uganda international has had stints across Europe, featuring for clubs such as Standard Liège (Belgium), HNK Gorica (Croatia), Konyaspor (Turkey) and Çaykur Rizespor (Turkey).
Known for his creativity and eye for goal, Miya will be looking to revive his career in Greece while also hoping to return to the Uganda Cranes fold ahead of the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco in December.
