Greek derby: El Kaabi’s penalty completes Olympiacos fine season finish

Morocco international Ayoub El Kaabi scored the only goal as Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos by 1-0 in the derby of the eternal enemies at the Athens Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

The victory was for the formalities as Olympiacos had already won the Greece Super League with several matches to draw the curtains on the season.

The goal that separated the two sides and sealed the win for Olympiacos was scored by 31-year-old El Kaabi in the 60th minute from the penalty spot, after Yaremchuk won the foul from Ingason.

The game was their last of the season with the 1-0 victory wrapping up a 75 points haul after 32 matches of the season with Panathinaikos languishing in second on 59 points.

Ayoul El Kaabi finished the season with 18 goals in 29 league matches with five assists. The “red-and-whites” will now look ahead to the Greek Cup Final against OFI on the 17th of May at the OAKA, where they will aim to complete the domestic double.
