Sekhukhune United striker Bradley Grobler has admitted that his two goals in the 3-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs were particularly satisfying, as he felt he was once told by the Soweto giants that he was “old and past his prime.”
The 37-year-old veteran delivered a Man of the Match performance at FNB Stadium in Soweto, scoring twice and providing an assist to help Babina Noko to the top of the Betway Premiership standings. The win ended Chiefs’ five-game unbeaten streak and saw them remain in third place.
“It feels great, I’ve got to be honest,” Grobler told SuperSport TV after the match. “I haven’t trained in the last four days due to a throat and chest infection, and I arrived at camp late yesterday. Sometimes itβs nice scoring against teams that told you that four, five, six years ago you were old and past your prime, so it’s good to be scoring against these teams.”
Grobler, who now has 123 goals in all competitions, added that he has nothing against Kaizer Chiefs personally but finds it particularly sweet to score against a team that once doubted him.

With the brace against Chiefs, Bradley Grobler has now scored 12 goals against the Soweto giants in all competitions, making them the single opponent he has scored against the most in his club career.
While celebrating his personal achievement, Grobler was quick to emphasise the significance of the win for his team.
“I think tonight was a big performance. A performance that’s probably going to make people take us a bit more seriously,” he said. “We don’t want to put that pressure on ourselves. Obviously, we want to go on and win every game. We’d like to fight for the league, and tonight I think was a big stepping stone, even though we’ve got a long way to go.”
