Everton produced a routine victory over Mansfield Town in the Carabao Cup Round 2 with Portugal born Guinea-Bissau striker, Norberto Gomes Betuncal, popularly known as Beto registering his name on the score sheet.
The Toffees imposed their authority on the English third tier side with Argentina midfielder Carlos Alcaraz testing Mansfield keeper, Liam Roberts who managed to make an impressive diving save.
Liam Roberts was called to duty once again when he rose to tip off Dwight McNeil’s free kick to keep Mansfield in the game at the Goodison Park.
As much as Everton controlled the entire proceedings, they failed to find the back of the net with Mansfield left chasing shadows into the half time break.
Everton however got their breakthrough in the 51st minute when Carlos Alcaraz curled in a perfect assist from Harrison Armstrong just outside the penalty area.
The Toffees had a perfect chance to double their tally when Beto latched on to a free opportunity but he shot straight into the hands of Mansfield keeper, Liam Roberts.
The Guinea-Bissau attacker however left it late to find the net when tapped in a low cross from Harrison Armstrong to put the game beyond the League One club and qualify for the third round of the Carabao Cup.
