Guinea local national side head coach Souleymane Camara has trimmed his squad to 23 players ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be hosted in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Guinea are drawn in Group C alongside hosts Uganda, Niger, 2022 CHAN runners-up Algeria, and South Africa.
Camara oversaw two friendly games against Senegal last week before trimming his squad to 23 players. Abdey faced the local press while announcing his squad for the final preparations in Morocco and Cameroon. Guinea Championnat National top scorer Moussa Camara has been called up by the coach to join the camp. Veteran Ibrahima Sankhon has been invited to join the squad. The AS Kaloum player previously played in the 2016 CHAN that was hosted in Rwanda.
Camara surprisingly omitted Horoya goalkeeper and local league Goalkeeper of the Season winner Salifou Sylla. The coach stated the custodian did not impress him in the two games against Senegal; hence he is left out of the final squad.
Guinea will play two more friendly games against Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic.
