Guinea: AS Kaloum request venue change for Horoya derby

Guinea Ligue 1 Pro side AS Kaloum has requested a change of venue for their derby game against Horoya AC on March 7. The Guinea Professional Football League (LGFP) announced that the derby between Kaloum and Horoya will be staged at the Stade Petit Sory in Nongo.

Currently second in the standings, Kaloum sent a letter to the league requesting a change of venue for the derby tie. The club stated that the match should be played at the Kaloum Mission Stadium rather than at Stade Petit Sory. Kaloum’s reason for the requested change is related to security concerns.

According to Lamine Touré of Guineefoot, in an official statement Kaloum said they would rather play at a venue they fully control. “We request that the ASK-Horoya match be rescheduled at the Kaloum Mission Stadium, a venue we fully control, rather than at another facility where risks of infiltration and disruption would remain.”

Following their matchday 17 defeat to Hafia FC at Stade Petit Sory, Kaloum was ordered to pay for broken seats after fan violence in the stadium. Only two points separate league leaders Horoya (36) and the 13-time Guinean champions Kaloum (34) heading into the derby this Saturday.
