Poacher extraordinaire Serhou Guirassy was at it again on Sunday, providing two goals as Borussia Dortmund earned their first victory of the young 2025-26 Bundesliga season against Union Berlin.
The Guinea national team star opened the scoring close to halftime by finishing a Yan Couto cross to give the hosts a deserved breakthough.
However, Guirassy’s second goal was pure brilliance from the former Stuttgart star. The 29-year-old received a pass from midfield and produced a nifty touch to Maximilian Beier, starting a slick combination before running onto Beier’s return pass and calmly lifting his finish over onrushing Union goalkeeper Frederick Ronnow.
The second goal was the moment that put Dortmund well beyond reach before Felix Nmecha finished the scoring off in the 81st minute.
Following a 3-3 draw at St. Pauli in their Bundesliga opener, Dortmund earn their first league victory of the campaign. Guirassy has scored in all three of the club’s competitive games so far this season, providing the winner in a 1-0 DFB Pokal victory over Rot-Weiss Essen and also contributing the opening goal in the draw at St. Pauli.
Dortmund next face Heidenheim away from home on September 13 following the FIFA window before beginning the league phase of the UEFA Champions League in Italy against Juventus three days later. Guirassy will take part in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying during the FIFA window after being called up for Guinea’s crucial upcoming games against Somalia and Algeria.
