Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy was left a happy man after he returned among the goals to help Borussia Dortmund secure a 2-0 UEFA Champions League first leg advantage against Atalanta on Tuesday.
During the Round of 32 fixture, the star forward opened the scoring inside three minutes before setting up the second goal. Julian Ryerson set up the Guinean for a towering header to put the hosts ahead early.

In the 42nd minute, a quick attack down the left wing created plenty of space for Guirassy to drive unopposed towards the end line. Seeing Maximilian Beier’s run at the far post, the striker provided a perfect cross to leave the German with an easy finish.
Speaking after the game, he told Dortmund website: “We were stuck in traffic for an hour and 15 minutes, so we had to get changed very quickly in the dressing room.
“We didn’t even have ten minutes to prepare. But we got off to a good start. Today, I scored again with my head after a very good cross from Julian Ryerson. I think that’s a perfect start to these Champions League play-offs.”
He added: “I don’t play alone; I need of course my teammates to be efficient.”
Dortmund coach Julian Brandt praised Guirassy for doing what he does best – to score goals.

“A 2-0 lead is a bit tricky. But it also gives you a bit of security because you’ve kept a clean sheet and scored two goals. Overall, we’re satisfied and will go to Bergamo next week full of confidence. Serhou (Guirassy) is back to doing what he does best!,” said Brandt.
He added: “Basically, we’re happy with the game. We were very active and moved very well. We knew that Atalanta would defend one-on-one. We moved out of position a lot, which led to Maxi’s (Beier) goal.
“We were able to run into space and play the ball. I would have liked us to have added another goal in the second half. I think we had one or two more chances that we could have taken.”
The second leg will take place next Wednesday, but before that, Dortmund will be away to Leipzig on Saturday.
