Serhou Guirassy ended October with a goal as Borussia Dortmund overcame hosts FC Augsburg by a 1-0 score in Friday’s only clash from the Bundesliga.
The Guinean international’s fifth goal in eight Bundesliga matches arrived after going nearly a month without a goal, with his last strike coming in a 4-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Athletic Bilbao on October 1.
A hopeful ball into the penalty area from Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton was poorly dealt with by the Augsburg defense and the #9 reacted well to collect the ball, surge into the penalty area and fire past Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen in the 37th minute. It was the only shot on target in the match for the visitors, who scrapped out a tough victory away from home to move into second place on the table for now.
Named as a candidate for CAF Men’s Player of the Year, the former Stuttgart star will hope to add another goal to his tally when Die Schwarzgelben travel to face Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on November 5. He now has 7 goals and 3 assists in 13 matches across all competition this season.
